Treasures of Darkness

In darkness,
Seeking answers and salvation,
We reach at glimpses of light.

Blind to the wisdom of the dark.
The unwanted and needed dark,
The discoveries possible in the dark.

Comfortable without light,
Patient without a path.
Faith in place of sight,
Calm, unrushed, unmoved by flashes of light.

Returning to our natural peace with the dark,
To see the dark differently.

As a place of incubation,
Sheltered, nurtured, protected.
As a place for inner illumination,
Fundamental to our ascent.

How may we see the treasures of darkness,
And discern a temporary flash,
From an eternal beam.

"And I will give thee the treasures of darkness." - Isaiah 45:3

This post was conceived when I became afraid of the dark, developed in conversations with others in search of clarity, and born from this sermon by TD Jakes.

Humbly, I share it with you, so it may serve you.
May you serve as a treasure to someone in the dark.
